RFDS Bariatric Transport System Delivery

Formal delivery of the RFDS Bariatric Transport System was completed on Friday the 27th of June at the RFDS Jandakot Base. The launch was a great success.

Training in the use of the system was delivered during the week by Five Rings Aerospace Managing Director Greg Hanlon and Quality and Customer Service Manager Craig Mitchell.

A large media contingent was present, with The West Australian posting a great article in their paper. Follow the link below to the electronic version.

The RFDS awarded Five Rings Aerospace a Certificate of Appreciation for our work on the project.

RFDS (WA Operations) Bariatric Transport Project

Aircraft Floor Locks

On the 5th and 6th of March, Five Rings Aerospace in conjunction with subcontractors Ferno and Barker Tooling successfully completed the Critical Design Review for the Bariatric Transport System for the RFDS (WA Operations). Capable of transporting a patient up to 300kg in weight, the system is comprised of a Bariatric Stretcher powered by the Ferno PowerFlexx hydraulic lifter, Aircraft Floor Lock Restraints and the Bariatric Stretcher Lifting Device and Platform. The Bariatric Stretcher transports patients seamlessly from the ambulance, up into the Pilatus PC12 RFDS Aircraft and out again, removing the need to transfer the patient onto multiple stretchers. The Aircraft Floor Lock Restraints secure the patient and Bariatric Stretcher in the aircraft safely and with minimal operator input.

Now we just need to deliver the final production systems !!

GoPro Camera Mount Installation

We have just completed another GoPro Camera Mount Installation for Hunter Region SLSA Helicopter Rescue Service’s Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

Hunter Region SLSA Helicopter Rescue Service has granted approval for a documentary film crew to make a film on the activities of the rescue helicopter.  The documentary film makers requested footage of the aircraft operation from outside the cabin via miniature GoPro digital video cameras mounted externally to the aircraft.

In total, there are four cameras fitted to the aircraft at the following locations:

  1. Below the RH pilot’s seat.

  2. On the cable hoist aft of the cable.

  3. On the tail boom.

  4. Under the nose.

The cameras are mounted using the preferred “Redrock Mirco Cobalt GoPro Camera Mount”.

Hunter Region SLSA Helicopter Rescue Service has already obtained fantastic footage using the GoPro digital video cameras. Click the link below for an example.
