An opportunity exists for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our Melbourne team.  This role requires proven track record in successfully leading complex projects within the aviation sector.  Excellent customer relationship, senior management engagement, project management and mentoring of early career engineers are key success factors in this position.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Design, the Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the delivery of projects including:

  • Respond to and manage customer enquiries (including project budget, scoping & quoting, tasking of jobs, delivery and deadline);
  • Prepare and check Engineering Packages incorporating supporting technical and compliance data;
  • Draft high-quality drawings with CAD platforms;
  • In charge of managing the workflow of an engineering team;
  • Achieve project targets within the allocated budget and timeframe through effective management;
  • Ensure that our customers receive outstanding support at all times;
  • Mentoring and developing early career Engineers.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Hold a Bachelor Degree in Engineering (or higher);
  • Minimum five years’ experience in aircraft design and certification – preferably Part 23, 25, 27 and 29 category aircraft;
  • Advanced CAD skills (SolidWorks and AutoCAD packages or equivalent);
  • Project Management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines;

Your opportunity

Multiple opportunities exist for experienced Aircraft Design Engineers to join our Melbourne and Sydney Design Engineering teams. If you’re looking for a role that is client facing and want to be involved in the engineering design, manufacturing and fabrication of aircraft, aeromedical and aerospace products then this is the role for you.

In addition to engineering skills we are looking for candidates who are good communicators, flexible and adaptable to changing task priorities, and have an interest in travel for client onsite consultancy services. Day to day activities will involve:

  • Ensure that customers are kept informed, issues are resolved, and project deliverables are met on time and within budget;
  • Preparation and review of Engineering Packages incorporating supporting technical and compliance data;
  • Drafting high-quality drawings with CAD platforms;
  • Provide technical support on design and/or manufacturing projects;

What will help you succeed

  • Relevant Bachelor Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (or higher) to suit the work required;
  • Minimum 3+ years aircraft design experience with a demonstrated ability to solve complex engineering problems with minimum supervision – preferably Part 23, 25, 27 and 29 category aircraft.
  • Proactive and results-orientated with experience working to deadlines and delivering quality results.
  • Ability to work as part of an experienced and dedicated team, as well as autonomously.
  • Advanced CAD skills (SolidWorks and AutoCAD packages or equivalent).

An opportunity exists for an experienced Design Draftsperson to join our Melbourne team.  This role is to assist our project teams with design drafting and modelling within the Aerospace Industry. Excellent attention to detail and computer drawing skills are key success factors in this position.

About the Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Design Draftsperson is responsible for assisting the projects team to design and meet deadlines in the project including: 

  • Work directly with the engineering and production team to produce drawings of material from sketches, existing drawings, and electronic images, along with written and verbal descriptions.
  • Offer solutions and resolve product/technical issues,
  • Producing and issuing technical design and detailed drawings 
  • Developing workable solutions with the engineers and production team
  • Creating and revising AutoCAD and SolidWorks drawings

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of mechanical and component drafting, associated degree in drafting design or equivalent experience required. In addition, minimum 5 years drafting experience preferred.

 To be successful in this role you will: 

  • Be a confident team player, self-motivated and energetic,
  • Have experience in a similar Design Engineer / Draftsperson role,
  • Have a background in Engineering Design / drafting,
  • Possess excellent communication and record keeping skills,
  • Have the ability to think critically and problem solve,
  • Possess high level of motivation, initiative and time management skills.

To be considered for this position, you must possess the following:

  • Proven drafting history on large scale projects 
  • Advanced CAD skills (SolidWorks and AutoCAD packages)
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent attitude and commitment to safety
  • Proven experience drafting to Australian standards, statutory requirements and client specifications
  • Engineering/ Drafting design experience in aviation industry will be highly regarded

  • Responding to and managing customer enquiries (including project budget, scoping & quoting, tasking of jobs, delivery and deadline);
  • Preparing and checking technical data packages;
  • Drafting high-quality drawings/wiring diagrams with CAD platforms (AutoCAD and SolidWorks;
  • Achieving project targets within the allocated budget and timeframe through effective management;
  • Ensuring that our customers receive outstanding support at all times;
  • Leading and executing larger projects;
  • Assisting with mentoring and developing early career Engineers.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Must hold an Avionics/Electrical Engineering Bachelor degree qualification; 
  • 4 years minimum previous experience with aircraft design and certification. 
  • Familiarity with Civil Aviation Safety Authority Part 21 regulations. 
  • Advanced CAD skills (SolidWorks and AutoCAD packages or equivalent).
  • Project Management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
